Willows, exceptional trees

Willow culture

Short-rotation willow culture is an innovative approach to ligneous material production. Through a densely-packed layout, willows produce long and slender stems. 3-year rotations ensure a continuous regrowth without the need to replant.

Quick growth and
capture

Willows are particularly fast growing, reaching up to 8 metres in just three years. Unlike many species who take several years to absorb significant quantities of CO2, willows begin to capture a large quantity of carbon dioxide from the very first day of growth.

Willow transpiration

Willows stand out due to their low efficiency in managing water transpiration, a characteristic often perceived as a hindrance. But we use this feature to our advantage. Thanks to their high evapotranspiration capacity, willows significantly reduce large volumes of water.

Custom willow

Ramo is the leading producer of willows in North America. We grow over 70 willow varieties, which allows us to adapt to various climates, soil types and project goals.

Expertise

We bring considerable expertise to any project, owing to our management of more than 1,000 hectares of willow plantations across North America. We have specialized machinery at our disposal, many years of combined experience as well as a highly qualified team on hand.

Biodiversity

Our willow plantations also provide food and shelter for several animal species and insects. As the first pollinators of the year, willows are of critical importance. We integrate other tree species depending on the project’s goal.
