Restoring mining soils for revegetation

How can willows help regenerate mining soils?

Ramo offers an innovative solution to the challenge of the lack of local organic matter essential for mine reclamation.

The idea is to plant willows on unused plots in or near the mine, then harvest them every three years in the form of ramial fragmented wood. This valuable amendment is then spread on the plots to be restored, revitalizing the soil and facilitating revegetation to return the site to its original state.

Benefits

Savings

Lower costs through locally sourced organic material.

Carbon

High levels of carbon captured in the willow biomass from day 1.

TSM

Applicable for four protocols that support the Towards Sustainable Mining initiative.

This solution can be paired with the Evaplant technology to reduce mine wastewater.
