Agricultural machinery operator

Agricultural machinery operator

You’re passionate about farming and tractors, but corn and soybeans are starting to bore you. Looking for a bigger challenge? Hi, we’re Ramo — and we grow big willow branches, mostly to help save the planet!

Here, our machines run almost all year long. You won’t even have to do snow removal in the winter — unless you insist — because we’ve got big yards too! You’ll be joining an elite team with truly unique expertise (and no, we’re not talking about corn seeds!). We work with agricultural, forestry, and custom-built equipment — non-traditional machines that are one of a kind in North America. Would you like to drive our self-propelled forage harvester through a field of 25-foot-tall willow branches?

Who are we?

We’re passionate about nature and willows. We grow them, harvest them, and transform them into beautiful eco-products such as ecological fences and noise barriers! We also use willows to purify water, clean the air, and restore nature.

Ramo is a self-managed company where trust prevails over control. We operate with common sense, leveraging everyone’s talents and collective intelligence. Our company is special because the people who work here are too!

Job Description:

You’ll be joining our amazing team to drive, operate, handle, and take care of our fleet of tractors and agricultural machinery. You’ll be responsible for inspecting, preparing, and attaching unique equipment. You’ll also take care of it by cleaning, adjusting, lubricating, inspecting, and performing basic maintenance — all under the wise guidance of Francis, our professional mechanic!

Examples of tasks you’ll be entrusted with:

  • Prepare soil, plant willows, and nourish them by amending and fertilizing the land.
  • Control invasive plants.
  • Harvest and store willows.
  • Keep a detailed logbook of your agricultural activities.
  • Travel to different regions of Quebec (such as Abitibi, Côte-Nord, and others) to carry out large-scale projects.

Required Experience:

  • 3 or more years of experience operating tractors or agricultural machinery.

Preferred Experience:

  • Valid driver’s license – Class 5 (Class 1 or 3 is an asset).
  • A genuine love for tractors.
  • It’s an asset if you have:
    • High school diploma (Secondary 5);
    • Pesticide application permit;
    • Ability to use GPS systems on agricultural machinery.

Desired Profile:

  • Quick learner.
  • Resourceful and autonomous.
  • Good with your hands and comfortable using tools and machinery.
  • Able to reorganize and take action when facing unexpected situations.
  • Attention to quality — our willows grow faster when they’re well cared for!
  • Safety-conscious and attentive to health and safety practices.
  • Pleasant to work with and a good team player.
  • Attentive to your machinery and how it operates.

    Work Environment:

Our offices and beautiful farm are located in Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan — where traffic simply doesn’t exist. We even have a vegetable garden for employees during the summer. At lunchtime, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to picnic in a tractor surrounded by a willow forest, with the option of talking to them to encourage their growth!

Right now, our willows are thirsty for new land — that’s why we’re expanding our team of pilots to grow, nurture, and harvest them! This also means you’ll need to travel and stay in various locations across Quebec.

    Schedule:

40 to 50 hours per week (available evenings and weekends in May, June, November, and December)

You’ll need to be flexible — fortunately, we’re not talking about doing the splits — and available for overtime during peak periods or whenever Mother Nature gives us the green light.

    Salary:

Competitive compensation based on the candidate’s experience.

Travel allowance: $75/night when working away from home.

    Group insurance after 3 months.

A generous vacation policy (starting at 4 weeks per year).
